The exhibition combines the work of two painters. Mike Dings finds inspiration in the classic genre of Western, in particular Spaghetti Westerns. These Italian films appropriate the style of the Hollywood fantasy of the wild west. Similar like the movie makers of Spaghetti Westerns, Mike Dings asks how much information do we need in an image to sketch a whole scene? For Berry Sanders, painting is a way of thinking and imagining the world. Painting is getting a grip on reality. His subjects are dystopian, whether based on architecture, landscape or interior views, with or without people as part of the pictorial space.
